Commonwealth University-Bloomsburg Economics Department Brings in Harvard Professors for Spring Lecture Series
Bloomsburg, PA (04/03/2023) — The Department of Economics at Commonwealth University-Bloomsburg will host two lectures by Harvard University economics professors in April. Both are open to the public.
Dr. Oliver Hart's webinar will be Wednesday, April 12, at 2 p.m. The topic of the webinar will be "Corporate Social Responsibility." Hart is currently the Lewis P. and Linda L. Geyser University Professor at Harvard. He is the 2016 co-recipient of the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel. His research centers on the roles that ownership structure and contractual arrangements play in the governance and boundaries of corporations.
Dr. Edward Glaeser will give his lecture on "The Future of America's Economic Geography" on Thursday, April 13, at 2 p.m. in Haas Center for the Arts, Mitrani Hall. Glaeser is the Fred and Eleanor Glimp Professor of Economics and the Chairman of the Department of Economics at Harvard University. He has served as the Director of the Taubman Center for State and Local Government, and Director of the Rappaport Institute for Greater Boston. His work focuses on the determinants of city growth and the role of cities as centers of idea transmission.
