Fall 2022 Lecture Series Discusses Future of Democracy

Bloomsburg, PA (10/10/2022) — The Institute for Culture and Society (ICS) at Bloomsburg, a Commonwealth University, will continue its fall lecture series with a talk from Dr. Peter Doerschler, professor and chair of the Department of Political Science. The lecture will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 19, at 7 p.m. in McCormick Center, room 1303.

Doerschler's lecture, "The Future of Global Democracy: Combating Recession Through Institutional Reform," will examine the ongoing recession and share ideas for reversing the trend toward authoritarian rule with specific attention given to the United States.

Doerschler has been a member of the political science department at the Bloomsburg campus for 15 years. His scholarly interests include European politics, far-right parties and movements, and immigration.

The ICS organizes lectures, presentations, and performances that explore and elucidate aspects of human culture and society. Through their events, the ICS works to share the intellectual and creative achievements of faculty and students within and with the Bloomsburg community.
